Bighorn Leadership Development Program

About Bighorn

The mission of the Bighorn Leadership Development Program is to ensure that strong, practical leadership is available to Colorado over the long term. The program identifies potential leaders and provides them with the encouragement and training to become actively engaged in politics and public policy. It emphasizes a pragmatic approach to policy development and encourages participants to consider a range of leadership roles in public service.

The Bighorn Leadership Program was founded in 2001 as a program of the Bighorn Center for Public Policy.  The Bighorn Center for Public Policy closed in 2006, but there was a commitment on the part of its founder, Rutt Bridges, alumni, the Director, and policymakers from both sides of the aisle to continue realizing the vision.  Fortunately, Colorado State University saw the value of the program and forged a partnership.
